In which someone died, we got hit on by a drunk guy, and I committed to change my life :D

Our Friend, Elder Chill

The subject line is intended to freak you out :)
Banana Pie Love
Hello family!

Just Embrace it people because it's not going away
This week we had the opportunity to go visiting with our Relief Society president. We had a strong urge to visit a sister that was really far away and who the Relief Society president was hesitant to visit since the visiting teachers had said it was probably unsafe. We persisted, feeling that we needed to visit this sister, and it ended up being the perfect time to go- it was just her and her two little girls, and she was just in need of a visit. I think it really motivated the president :) Don't ignore the spirit!

Groovy Icicle
Sister T and Me
Sister T. and I have started what's called a 40 day fast: for the next 40 days we are going to stop doing a list of several things that poke at our spirit and keep us from being effective teachers. We read an incredible story of a companionship who did this and found that their desire to do those little sins stopped, and the Holy Ghost was manifest in all their lessons. We're so excited! It's already proving difficult, but it's possible, I know it!
We've also made a goal- don't know if I mentioned this but we've realized that Friday nights are CRAZY busy in La Crosse downtown. So we've committed to go there every night and try to talk to as many people as we can, which is scary. We're getting better though :) but yeah, that's where the reference to the drunk guy came from :)

A's uncle passed away this week, so she's not going to make it to church for the next two weeks :( but she's still going to meet with us at our usual time on Tuesday :) Crazy stuff has been happening to a lot of people lately. There have been several deaths, a funeral that we helped out with, hospitalizations, and car wrecks.. It's crazy! but also, inspiring to see these people keep on coming and having their faith strengthened despite the tragedies :) I love them!
I hope everyone is doing well! hope to hear from ya'll soon :)
LOVE always,
Sister Roberts
Also- my poor watch has officially given up the ghost. Now- time does not exist! MWAHAHAHA!

Courage because it's true!

Mass Casualty Trailer, just in case
At Vietnamese Restaurant with the Ward Mission Leader

Visiting with a sweet Hmong family (6 girls! So lucky)

Cool Sidewalk quote

This was a really fun week, we discovered that all of the La Crosse population migrates to downtown La Crosse on Friday night, so we spent that night prowling the town trying to gather up the courage to talk to people- and when we did it was awesome! We were also able to help at the Salvation Army, paint at a less active member's house, and make cookies for a baptism this weekend.
Having Fun with the Sistas at Zone Conference
A. is progressing very well, she needs to receive her answer to know if the Book of Mormon is true, but we're going to talk to her about writing down the inspiration she receives and possibly setting a date to know.
Yesterday we had zone conference! it was so fun- we have the best zone ever. There were  4 missionaries departing on Wednesday! So weird- now basically all the missionaries I know are dying! The mission is so young. Blah. I just hope they get I pads soon- that would make SO many things SO much easier!
Okay, I'm going to say a lot more in my next letter, but this week I mostly have time for just pictures... so sorry!
Missionary Manicure
I think the biggest miracle we saw was being thrown out of a member's house during dinner... ha ha. The mom got a call and there was a sister who needed help getting to the ER, and this mom was like "We'll be there in 10 minutes," shooed us off, and zipped away. It was touching and inspiring to see a sister so ready and willing to help someone right on a dime.
I love you guys!

Be Happy and Grateful Sister Roberts, Jeez. -Heavenly Father

With the Gunderson Wolf

Family dearest!
My Companion cleaning, she is very careful.
For some reason this week it's been hard to remember that I don't have to be a perfect missionary. It seemed like I did a lot of things wrong this week, but I realized that I'm being pretty silly and started to say "thank you prayers" all the time instead of "woe is me" prayers. Every time I've made the switch I've felt happier and more fulfilled :) I should really do it more consistently. I have so much to be grateful for, and so little to complain about.
J. finally came to church! He only stayed for the first hour, but we think he enjoyed it- the service was a powerful one about education, something he's been thinking of going back into. A., another progressing investigator of ours, has also been coming and meeting with us regularly. We're really excited for her :)
My Mail
Making some stir fry
We've seen many mighty miracles and many tender mercies- including driving past a bush FULL of my favorite red birds! He works in small ways, but brings mighty changes in our hearts - therein lies the miracle.
I also received a package.. in an ice-cream carton.. in the mail... full of chocolate.. on a day when I was really craving chocolate.

I love you guys so much! work hard and expect miracles. FLOW FOREVER!

Miles of Miracles

I caught a Giant Catfish!
We saw a lot of little miracles this week, including teaching the girlfriend of a YSA (Young Single Adult), running into a person who was the aid in another house we had knocked on, being led to a long time former investigator who wants to get baptized but whose wife won't allow it, visiting a widow on the very year date that her husband died, following up with a potential investigator the day she needed a prayer most, searching for community service opportunities and receiving a call from a member asking for help with something, helping a less active sister move and watching her bear her testimony in tears on fast Sunday, being led to visit another less active, young family the same day bishop was thinking about them and the same day their non-member friend and less active brother was there- basically being where the Lord needed us, when He needed us there. It was such an amazing thing to be part of :) We saw a lot of tears and felt a lot of prayers, and oh how blessed we are! Looking back, it's obvious how much God has blessed us- even if during the day or in the short scheme of it, it was hard to see the little miracles.
Holding a soft bunny
I hope everyone is doing super well- please e-mail me little miracles you have! They are so inspiring and beautiful.
Also! want to remind everyone about studying Preach My Gospel :D What divinely inspired words that book holds. :)
I love you all
Love,
Sister Roberts
